British acting legend Patricia Routledge has been a regular on our TV screens, and her role as Hyacinth Barrel on the BBC comedy Keeping Your Looks is one of the network’s most recognizable roles. In recent years, however, the 93-year-old star hasn’t been on camera or at major events as he used to. For example, her last acting credit was in 2005 with her storytelling work on the Blips series.
Routledge fans miss her even though they still watch Keeping the Looks over and over, so they’ll be happy to know she’s only making rare appearances for a good reason. In her first public appearance in five years, the actress has been recognised at London’s Masonic Concert Hall and received an honorary membership of the Royal Academy of Music, according to The Sun. Other celebrities such as Lin-Manuel Miranda and Matt Lucas were also honored.

Good to see Routledge in a good mood. As for a possible return to showbiz, we wouldn’t hold out much hope. Fans will recall that the celebrity has previously criticised the BBC for cancelling her show Hetty Wainthropp Investigates without telling her. The crime drama ran for four seasons, and she believes they’ll make another season. “The BBC is run by 10-year-olds,” Routledge said in a 2008 interview, as Digital Spy reported at the time.
Of course, Routledge could work with other networks besides the BBC, but for now we’re just looking forward to seeing them.
